Organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards is an annual flagship event in the local arts scene. It aims to give formal recognition to distinguished arts practitioners, up-and-coming artists with outstanding achievements, individual, groups and organisations that have actively supported and participated in arts event, education and promotion and made significant contributions to the arts development in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Arts Development Awards has kept abreast of times by undertaking preview and adjustments as appropriate. Starting from this edition, the ‘Artist of the Year’ and ‘Award for Young Artist’ continue to accept individual nominees and would accept nominees be nominated as an artist collective; the ‘Award for Arts Promotion’ is expanded to become ‘Award for Arts Promotion and Education’ to better highlight the connotation of arts promotion and the entailing public arts education element therein.
