Organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards is an annual flagship event in the local arts scene. It aims to give formal recognition to distinguished arts practitioners, groups and organisations that have made significant contributions to the arts development in Hong Kong.

The 18th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards is organised into seven categories.
For the following two awards, nominations and final selection are made by HKADC's Council members and arts advisors:
The highest accolade in the Awards recognises the ongoing contributions of Hong Kong veteran arts practitioners whose achievements are widely acknowledged by the arts community.
Pays tribute to arts practitioners who have made outstanding contributions to various art forms during the past few decades.
The following five awards are open for nominations:
Recognises arts practitioners who have achieved excellence in their respective art forms; each awardee will receive a cash award of HK$50,000 for supporting his / her / the artist collective’s creative work, arts projects or further studies.
Gives recognition, support and encouragement to young and emerging arts practitioners; each awardee will receive a cash award of HK$25,000 for supporting his / her / the artist collective’s creative work, arts projects or further studies.
Recognises schools that have outstanding accomplishments in arts education which take place on campus.
Recognises the outstanding achievements of groups, organisations and individuals in arts promotion and education.
Recognises organisations and individuals that have actively sponsored arts events and promoted arts development in Hong Kong.
* The “Life Achievement Award” (previously known as the “Honorary Award”) and the “Award for Outstanding Contribution in Arts” are not presented posthumously. Previous recipients of these two awards will not be nominated for the same award again.
