19 Valid Nominations Received for the Nomination Exercise of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council

A total of 19 valid nominations were received by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) in Phase 3 - nomination of candidates - of the 2019 Nomination of Representatives of Arts Interests for the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (the Nomination Exercise).

Of the 10 arts interests, candidates from Arts Administration, Arts Criticism and Dance will be returned uncontested in this Nomination Exercise, while the representatives from the remaining seven arts interests, namely, Arts Education, Chinese Opera (Xiqu), Drama, Film Arts, Literary Arts, Music and Visual Arts will be elected by eligible voters. The list of the nominated representatives will be submitted to the Chief Executive for consideration of appointment as members of HKADC for the next term.

To enable voters to learn more about the candidates of the seven contested arts interests, a candidate forum will be arranged by the Nomination Agent (Note) on 5 October (Saturday) at 1pm at Mong K ok Community Hall (L2, Mong Kok Complex, 557 Shanghai Street, Mong Kok). Candidates of the seven contested arts interests will present their platforms and answer questions from voters.

Polling is scheduled for 20 and 21 October (Sunday and Monday) at Mong Kok Community Hall. Cross-arts interest voting will continue to be adopted this year. All voters registered under the 10 arts interests have the right to cast votes for candidates standing for nomination in the seven contested arts interests .

The Nomination Agent will send the letters by mail and / or email containing candidate platforms of the seven contested arts interests to all registered voters next week. Voters may also visit the Nomination Exercise website: www.voteforhkadc2019.hk or call the Nomination Agent at 3956 1408 for any enquiries.

The Nomination Agent has also updated the registered voter lists to include three additional eligible voters, and the total number of registered voters for this year’s Nomination Exercise is revised as 6,846.
