Hong Kong Scholarship on the Clore Fellowship Programme 2023
Opens for Application Now

Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) collaborates with the UK’s Clore Leadership (CL) again to launch the “Hong Kong Scholarship on the Clore Fellowship Programme 2023” (“the Scholarship”). The Scholarship aims to nurture arts management and creative talents of Hong Kong to become future leaders that contribute to the development of the arts sector and innovate for the greater good of the society. The Scholarship is now open for application.

The Scholarship will support a maximum of two outstanding, talented and experienced Hong Kong arts administrators to undertake the Clore Fellowship Programme between September 2023 and March 2024 in the UK. Based on the developmental needs of the scholarship recipient(s), the Clore Fellowship Programme provides a series of intensive leadership training and tailored professional development programme, including a secondment in a UK’s cultural institution for approximately six to eight weeks, professional skills courses, workshops, mentoring and coaching, to further develop their leadership skills and international exposure, and to strengthen their competences to meet the challenges of our times. 

The whole fellowship programme takes approximately five months and it covers the following key activities:

September 2023

(i) Attending an induction day in the UK, and the first leadership residential course for about nine days.

Between October 2023 and March 2024

(ii) In consultation with the CL, the scholarship recipient(s) has to formulate his/her individual development plan

(iii) Attending a series of intensive leadership training and a tailored programme of professional development, including professional skills workshop, courses and conferences, mentoring and coaching

(iv) Attending a three-day workshop programme in January 2024 in the UK

(v) Taking part in a secondment in a cultural institution in the UK for approximately six to eight weeks

(vi) Participating in a one-day online climate assembly

(vii) Attending the second leadership residential courses for about five days

The total value of the Scholarship is £30,500 per award of which a bursary of up to £16,500 will be made available to each scholarship recipient to cover the cost of tuition and conference fees, accommodation, subsistence and airfares. The CL will also cover the cost of accommodation, tuition and meals at the two leadership residential courses and attach to a mentor who is a senior figure in the UK cultural field. Interested applicants should, however, understand that adjustment or even cancellation may have to be made under the influence of COVID-19 and/or other unforeseeable circumstances beyond the control of HKADC and/or the CL.

The Scholarship is financially supported by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau. Inaugurated in 2009, the past scholarship recipients not only gained invaluable experience from the programme, but also benefited from learning directly from prominent arts practitioners in the UK. Interested applicants are advised to refer to the guidelines and application form available at the HKADC website: www.hkadc.org.hk or the HKADC Administration Office (10/F, 1063 King’s Road, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong). Applicant must submit the duly completed application by email to [email protected], or deposit it in the collection box at the HKADC Administration Office, or by post to the HKADC Administration Office, by 6:00pm on 13 February 2023 (Monday), Hong Kong time the latest. Applications submitted by post must be postmarked on or before the deadline. Please submit the applications via one of the above channels and do not submit in duplicate. Late submission or submission via fax and digital means other than the aforesaid email address will not be processed.
