Hong Kong Scholarship for Professional Attachment to Public Programmes at Tate London 2021 Now Open for Application

The Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) collaborates with Tate of the UK again to launch the “Hong Kong Scholarship for Professional Attachment to Public Programmes at Tate London 2021” (The Programme). The Programme aims to provide a curatorial attachment opportunity to local potential and experienced curators and arts managers to further develop their professional skills, experience and networks. It is now open for application.

The Programme will support one local curator or arts manager to take part in a 22-week attachment on a full-time basis from September 2021 to February 2022 in the Public Programme Team at Learning & Research Department of Tate London. Tate London consists of Tate Modern and Tate Britain which are two of four Tate galleries around the UK. The selected candidate will attach as Assistant Curator, contributing to research, development, planning, delivery and evaluation of the cross-site public programmes of Tate Modern and Tate Britain exhibitions and collection displays, and various strategic partnerships initiatives. He/She will work with different departments, artists and collaborators to plan and develop the public programmes. With the help of Tate staff, the selected candidate will also have the chance to visit other cultural institutes in order to enrich his/her attachment experience.

A bursary of HK$168,000 will be provided to the selected candidate to cover local accommodation, transportation, subsistence during the attachment period and a round trip economy ticket from Hong Kong to UK. Applicants are required to possess at least three years of paid curatorial/programming full-time work experience in arts and cultural sector, preferably with knowledge in public programmes. Interested practitioners should, however, understand that adjustment or even cancellation may have to be made under the influence of COVID-19 and/or other unforeseeable circumstances beyond the control of HKADC and/or Tate.

Interested practitioners are advised to refer to the guidelines and application form available at HKADC’s website: www.hkadc.org.hk or the HKADC Administration Office (10/F, 1063 King’s Road, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong). Applicant must submit and deposit one set of completed application in the collection box at the HKADC Administration Office or email to [email protected] by 6:00pm on 23 October 2020 (Friday), Hong Kong time the latest. Applications submitted by post must be postmarked on or before the deadline. Please submit the applications via one of the above channels and do not submit in duplicate. Late submission or submission via fax and digital means other than email will not be processed.
