Exploring the Intersection of Arts and Technology

Three thematic arts tech exhibitions by local artists
Making debuts from July to October 2022

(HONG KONG, 8 July 2022) Presented by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, the ARTS • TECH Exhibition will be launching three showcases of original works by 12 accomplished Hong Kong artists and arts groups from 30 July to 24 October 2022. 

The project invites renowned curators Keith Lam, GayBird and Vvzela Kook to curate three different thematic arts tech exhibitions embracing works that span interactive art installations, virtual and sound arts, respectively at Central Market, M7 (7 Mallory Street) and 618 Shanghai Street, aiming to bring arts tech closer to the community and introduce immersive arts experiences to the people of Hong Kong in real and virtual spaces. 

The first exhibition, curated by Keith Lam with the theme “Sensory Transcode”, will be unveiled at 1/F Event Space, Central Market on 30 July 2022. Featuring the multi-disciplinary works created by seven art units comprising Carla Chan, Alain Chiu, Dimension Plus, Fung Wing-lam and Seth Hon, Chaklam Ng and Jackie Lou, N A T P, and Tung Wing-hong, the exhibition facilitates participants to explore novel interactive arts experiences in the world of Arts Tech.

The ensuing second exhibition “Cells that fire together wire together” curated by GayBird will open at M7, Wan Chai by the end of August, showcasing the works of GayBird, Kachi Chan, Ip Yuk-yiu and Hugo Yeung. “Empty Space” by Vvzela Kook will commence in October at 618 Shanghai Street. Dr Wilfred Wong, Chairman of Hong Kong Arts Development Council, said, "The integration of arts and technology empowers us to re-imagine and explore the multi-facets of art. Interactive experiences greatly enhance public interest in taking part in arts activities which definitely helps propel the arts development in Hong Kong. I believe arts tech will be the future development trend." 

With the support of Urban Renewal Authority, the three thematic exhibitions will be held in three exceptional and historical sites respectively at Central Market, M7 (7 Mallory Street) and 618 Shanghai Street. In addition to the exhibitions, participating artists will also lead a series of 24 public workshops, seminars and talks for the public to discover the world of Arts Tech.

Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) organises its first ARTS‧TECH Exhibition to introduce novel interactive arts experiences to the public by connecting arts, technology and community in a real and virtual space. The project invites curators Mr Keith Lam, Mr Leung Kei-cheuk (GayBird) and Ms Vvzela Kook to curate three different thematic arts tech exhibitions respectively at Central Market, M7 (7 Mallory Street) and 618 Shanghai Street to bring arts closer to the community, and allow the public to discover the endless possibilities of trans-media and trans-disciplinary in the world of Arts Tech.

About Hong Kong Arts Development Council
Established in 1995, Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) is a statutory body set up by the Government to support the broad development of the arts in Hong Kong. Its major roles include grant allocation, policy and planning, advocacy, promotion and development, and special projects. About Urban Renewal Authority
