HKADC Led Delegation to Visit Performing Arts Market in Seoul 2023

For the third time since 2015, the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) led a delegation of more than 30 members to visit the Performing Arts Market in Seoul (PAMS) from 10 to 14 October 2023. Comprised of HKADC’s council members and representatives from the performing arts sector, the delegation introduced talents from Hong Kong and their diverse arts offerings to overseas festival directors, arts agents and art organisations. The visit aimed to create a platform for the local artists to establish network and explore performing opportunities, strengthening exchanges between Hong Kong and overseas arts sectors.

On 10 October, a reception dinner was held in Seoul with the attendance of guests, including Mr Xing Haiming, the Chinese Ambassador to South Korea, Ms Winsome Au, of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Tokyo), and representatives from arts festival and arts agents around the world: Mr Oh Youngjoo of Arts Council Korea, Mr Hong Sawoong and Mr Choi Kyu of Korea Arts Management Service, Ms Kim Doh-yeon of Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, Ms Sarah Greentree of Australia Council for the Arts, Ms Catherine Jones of Australian Performing Arts Market and representatives from Performing Arts Network of New Zealand.

Mr Kenneth Fok Kai-kong, Chairman of HKADC, said at the exchange banquet that to maintain a sustainable development of the arts and culture in Hong Kong, HKADC formed a delegation with the newly appointed council members to visit PAMS to seize the opportunity to re-connect with the international arts scene, in order to build up a strong cultural exchange network and promote global access to the arts community of Hong Kong.

This year, HKADC supported 20 representatives from the Hong Kong performing arts and multi-disciplinary arts sector to set up booths at PAMS to promote the latest development in the Hong Kong performing arts scene and the works of Hong Kong performing artists and arts groups.
