“Behavioural Study on Arts Participants” Dissemination Webinar: Focus Group Findings – Call for Registration

Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) is going to hold a webinar to disseminate focus group findings from the “Behavioural Study on Arts Participants” on 25 April 2023 (Tue) at 2pm.

Funded by the Arts and Sport Development Fund (ASDF), the research project consists of 3 stages. Stage 1 investigated arts participation in alternative modes, and its results were uploaded to the HKADC website. The content of this webinar covers mainly the findings from stage 2 study, which was carried out by the market research company Ipsos, commissioned by the HKADC. After COVID-19, as performing/exhibition venues reopened, audience began to resume arts participation in person. Against this backdrop, by conducting 10 focus groups with 60 arts participants between July and September 2022, stage 2 study took a deep dive into audience’s decision-making process before they take part in arts events. The webinar will cover findings on “good show” criteria from audience’s perspectives, their preferences and expectations of Performing Arts programmes and Visual Arts exhibitions, their reactions to different promotional posters, and their opinions on arts-tech application/other new trends.

The HKADC would like to share the observations and research findings of the focus groups with small and medium-sized arts groups and arts practitioners, so that stakeholders in the arts industry could better understand their audience’s opinions after COVID-19, and reflect on ways to expand their audience base and sustain audience’s arts participation.
