Showcase in Mainland Scheme 2024 – Call for Proposals

Project Background

Since launching in 2018, Showcase in Mainland Scheme (formerly known as Performance in Mainland Scheme) has collaborated with festivals and venues in the Mainland with the aim of promoting the local artworks, and expanding local artists’ networks to the Mainland.

In 2024, HKADC will continue to work with Mainland partners. HKADC is now calling for proposals for performances & artworks. Interested artists/arts groups are welcome to submit proposals of past works and their biographies. For applicants who submit more than one performance proposal, please use a separate form for each proposal. Project details are outlined in the application form. 

Project Content

1. Proposals for Creative Works by Hong Kong Artists to Partner Institutions in the Mainland

HKADC now calls for proposals for visionary and creative artworks to be a part of the diverse and vibrant arts events and festivals in the Mainland. The work should have been performed or exhibited publicly. The types of production could be (but not limited to) (1) drama, (2) musical, (3) dance, (4) music, (5) exhibition, or (6) cross-disciplinary arts. The HKADC’s assessment panel will recommend proposals for the Mainland partners’ selection. The specific date & venue will be discussed and mutually agreed upon by the Mainland partners and the selected artists.

2. Co-curation / Co-development of New Artwork

Partners in the Mainland and the Greater Bay Area intend to establish a strong collaboration with Hong Kong artists/arts groups through co-development / co-curation of new artworks, that showcase the unique characteristics of the respective regions. Applicants may check the box with a ✓ in part 2 of “type of production” to indicate interest to co-curate/co-develop with the Mainland partner institution.

Partner Institutions

HKADC has been expanding our collaboration network to engage more venue partners and more art forms under the Scheme. Applicants may refer to the list of partner institutions below. The final touring date and location are subject to change and would depend on the mutual availability of the partner institutions and the selected artists/arts groups, the institutions’ artistic directive, and the local market considerations:

8) Futian Cultural Center (Shenzhen)

Terms and Conditions

The selected artists/arts groups will receive partial or full support from Mainland partner institutions for meals, local transportation, venue rental, as well as technical, publicity and ticketing support.

The expense items supported by Mainland organisers may differ, and the event date, venue and touring city are subject to change. Mainland partners reserve the rights not to select any programmes. The final terms and conditions shall be confirmed by the Mainland partners and selected artists/arts groups. Should there be a budget shortfall, HKADC may consider providing partial support, or the selected artists/arts groups may need to undertake the responsibility to shoulder the balance expenditure.

All programmes require performance or exhibition approval from the Mainland authorities. The selected artists/arts groups must complete the application according to Mainland regulations before the designated date, including but not limited to, providing the event contents such as recordings of full performance, and personal information of all artistic and production team members.

If the contents of the application incorporate the duplication, distribution or publishing of works and materials, etc. (including but not limited to any written, verbal, graphic/ image production or other format), in which intellectual and industrial property rights belonging to other parties/ organisations subsist, it is the applicant’s responsibility to obtain prior written consent from the holder of such intellectual and industrial property rights to ensure that the project can be implemented successfully without infringement or claims from third parties. HKADC reserves the right to request certified copies of such prior written consent.

Eligibility

Applications for this scheme can be submitted by individual artists or arts organisations.

Individual applicant - Individual artists who hold a Hong Kong identity card are eligible to apply as individuals. He/she must have reached the age of 18 at the time of application.

Organisation applicant - Organisations that are registered and conducting arts activities in Hong Kong are eligible as applicants. They can be either a registered society or limited company. Applications will be processed only if sufficient evidence is provided to prove that the arts project is non-profit making. Proof of official registration must also be submitted.

We do not accept applications submitted by organisations which are in the process of being registered. Besides, we do not accept sole proprietorship, partnership or jointly submitted by more than one applicant or one organisation.

Interested artists/arts groups please download the designated form from the bottom of this page and fill in all required information. Please send the completed form to [email protected] on or before Hong Kong Time 6:00pm, 29 April 2024 (Mon) . Late submissions will not be accepted nor processed by HKADC.
