Project Grant Adjudication Report
(For applications received between 1 July 2022 and 3 January 2023)

HKADC received 353 applications in this round of Project Grant application. Professionals in the arts field were invited to be examiners to adjudicate and select applications. In the end, HKADC provided 147 grants totaling $22,930,700, ranging in size from $10,700 to $800,000. In general, the success rate is 42%. Below are the reports of various art forms.

Music

33 applications were received and out of them, 28 applications were processed. 14 examiners were invited in the adjudication of the applications.

In the end, a total of 10 applications (including 7 performances, 2 arts education/community arts projects, and 1 emerging artists scheme application) were supported by HKADC with a total grant of $1,599,700. The success rate is 36%.

Dance

19 applications were received and out of them, 16 applications were processed. 12 examiners were invited in the adjudication of the applications.

In the end, a total of 8 applications (including 2 performances, 3 arts education/promotion projects, 1 Dance Arts Education/Research Collation Grant project and 2 emerging artists scheme applications) were supported by HKADC with a total grant of $1,366,500. The success rate is 50%.

Drama

40 applications were received and out of them, 38 applications were processed. 6 examiners were invited in the adjudication of the applications.

In the end, a total of 11 applications (including 5 performances, 1 playwriting, 1 publication, 2 audience building projects and 2 emerging artists scheme applications) were supported by HKADC with a total grant of $2,122,400. The success rate is 29%.

Xiqu

20 applications were received and out of them, 19 applications were processed. 9 examiners were invited in the adjudication of the applications.

In the end, a total of 13 applications (including 5 performances, 3 arts education projects, 1 research/archiving/critique/publication project and 4 Xiqu Professional Training Pilot Scheme applications) were supported by HKADC with a total grant of $1,413,400. The success rate is 68%.

Visual Arts

66 applications were received and out of them, 59 applications were processed. 27 examiners were invited in the adjudication of the applications.

In the end, a total of 19 applications (including 12 exhibitions, 3 research /archiving/critique/publication projects, 1 audience building project and 3 emerging artists scheme applications) were supported by HKADC with a total grant of $1,692,800. The success rate is 32%.

Film and Media Arts

32 applications were received and out of them, 26 applications were processed. 15 examiners were invited in the adjudication of the applications.

In the end, a total of 13 applications (including 5 film production projects, 2 screenwriting projects, 2 community arts and promotion projects, 2 arts education projects, 1 media arts production project and 1 emerging artists scheme application) were supported by HKADC with a total grant of $3,387,200. The success rate is 50%.

Cross/Multi-disciplinary Arts

22 applications were received and out of them, 15 applications were processed. 19 examiners were invited in the adjudication of the applications.

In the end, a total of 4 applications (including 1 exhibition, 1 arts education/promotion project, 1 performance and 1 research/archival/critique/publication project) were supported by HKADC with a total grant of $1,135,100. The success rate is 27%.

Literary Arts

41 applications were received and out of them, 36 applications were processed. 23 examiners were invited in the adjudication of the applications.

In the end, a total of 21 applications (including 16 publications, 3 arts education/community arts projects and 2 emerging artists scheme applications) were supported by HKADC with a total grant of $1,335,300. The success rate is 58%.

Cultural Exchange Grant

80 Cultural Exchange applications were received (14 Trial version applications and 66 General version applications), and out of them, 71 applications were processed (10 Trial version applications and 61 General version applications). 7 examiners were invited in the adjudication of the applications.

In the end, a total of 48 applications (including 8 Trial version, 40 General version) were supported by HKADC with a total grant of $8,878,300. The success rate of Trial version is 80% while the success rate of General version is 66%.
