The 58th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia (“Venice Art Biennale”) will be held from May to November 2019 in Venice, Italy. Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) now invites Hong Kong visual arts practitioners to apply for the captioned subsidy to visit the preview of the Venice Art Biennale, in the hope that this visit would benefit practitioners in experiencing one of the world’s most important arts events, as well as establishing international network with practitioners across different regions. It is also hoped that the practitioners could understand the operation of organising exhibition of such scale, and explore the global contemporary art scene, which is conducive to the development of practitioners’ artistic vision, career and the overall development of the visual arts sector in Hong Kong.
The scheme will subsidise around 15 Hong Kong visual arts practitioners to visit the Venice Art Biennale preview from 8 May to 10 May 2019 (provisional). HKADC will provide a maximum of HK$23,000 as subsidy to support each successful applicant’s expenses of return flight ticket between Hong Kong and Venice of Italy, accommodation, travel insurance and promotional material production (if applicable).
Interested parties are advised to refer to the guidelines and application form of the subsidy scheme. Both documents can now be obtained from HKADC Administration Office or downloaded from HKADC website. Applications, marked with “Application for the Visit Subsidy of Venice Art Biennale” on the envelop, must be submitted and deposited in the collection box at HKADC Administration Office by 6pm on 14 November 2018 (Wednesday). Applications submitted by post must be postmarked on or before the deadline. Late submission or submission by fax or email will not be processed.
