“Emerging Curators Project 2018“ organised by Power Station of Art (PSA) in Shanghai is currently calling for proposals from young Chinese curators around the globe. The project aims at choosing 2 winning proposals, each would be awarded with the fee of RMB300,000 for actualising the exhibition to be concurrently held with the 12th Shanghai Biennale from November 2018 to March 2019. The project would provide awarded curators with the support in the aspect of exhibition promotion and educational programmes, as well as the opportunity of overseas training.
The project invites Chinese nationals or overseas Chinese born not earlier than 1 January 1978, who are conducting research or practice in the (but not limited to) field of arts, video and film, design, architecture, sound, etc. These requirements apply to all applicants, as well as the artists involved in the proposals. Each proposal could be curated by a single curator, or up to a maximum of 3 curators. The submission deadline is 10am, 25 June 2018 (Beijing time). Assessment would be comprised of three screening stages: preliminary evaluation, secondary evaluation and final evaluation. The candidates who pass the third stage will be interviewed by the jury panel in the early July 2018 in Shanghai.
Earlier in the year, the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) invited the directors of PSA to introduce the project to the arts field in Hong Kong. If Hong Kong curators are invited to attend the jury interview of “Emerging Curators Project 2018“ in Shanghai, HKADC would consider supporting the travelling expenses and relevant fees.
