Hong Kong Scholarship on the Clore Fellowship Programme 2024

Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) collaborates with the UK’s Clore Leadership (CL) again to launch the “Hong Kong Scholarship on the Clore Fellowship Programme 2024” (“the Scholarship”). The Scholarship aims to nurture local arts management and creative talents to become future leaders that contribute to the development of the arts sector and innovate for the greater good of the society. The Scholarship is now open for application.

The Scholarship will support a maximum of two outstanding, talented and experienced local arts administrators to undertake the Clore Fellowship Programme between September 2024 and May 2025 in the UK. Based on the developmental needs of the scholarship recipient(s), the Clore Fellowship Programme provides a series of intensive leadership training and tailored professional development programme, including a secondment in a UK’s cultural institution for approximately six to eight weeks, professional skills courses, workshops, mentoring and coaching, to further develop their leadership skills and international exposure, and to strengthen their competences to meet the challenges of our times.

The whole fellowship programme takes approximately five months and it covers the following key activities:

September 2024

  1. Attending an online induction day on 12 September 2024, and the first leadership residential course from 16 to 25 September 2024 (ten days).
Between October 2024 and May 2025
  1. In consultation with the CL, formulating an individual development plan

  2. Attending a series of individual intensive leadership training and a tailored programme of professional development, including professional skills workshop, courses, conferences, mentoring and coaching

  3. Attending a three-day non-residential skill-based workshop from 20 to 22 January 2025

  4. Taking part in a six-to-eight week secondment in a UK-based cultural organisation

  5. Participating in a one-day Online Climate Assembly on 6 February 2025

  6. Developing a 360° leadership profile

  7. Attending the second leadership residential courses from 19 to 23 May 2025 (five days)

  8. Focused support from a mentor or a coach

The total value of the Scholarship is £35,500 per award of which a bursary of up to £17,750 will be made available to each scholarship recipient to cover the cost of tuition and conference fees, accommodation, subsistence and airfares. The CL will also cover the cost of tuition, accommodation and meals at the two leadership residential courses and attach to a mentor who is a senior figure in the UK cultural field.

The Scholarship is financially supported by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau. Inaugurated in 2009, the past scholarship recipients not only gained invaluable experience from the programme, but also benefited from learning directly from prominent arts practitioners in the UK.
