The 2nd Hong Kong Fellowship at International Society for the Performing Arts - Open for Application

The Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) collaborates with the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA) again to launch “The 2nd Hong Kong Fellowship at International Society for the Performing Arts”. The Fellowship Programme supports local mid-career performing arts leaders to take part in the ISPA New York Congresses and regional congresses to enhance their professional knowledge and strengthen their international network. It is now open for application.

The Fellowship Programme will offer up to two fellowship opportunities where each awardee will have access to participate in three ISPA New York Congresses and two regional congresses from 2022 to 2025. Having different themes for each edition, ISPA Congresses invite prominent speakers from around the world to share the latest thinking and challenges in arts. The awardees would be engaged in exchange of ideas with overseas counterparts, with a view to unleashing new thoughts and perspectives.

The New York Congress and regional congress take place in every January and May/June respectively, lasting for around 4-5 days in each edition. The recent congress attracted hundreds of ISPA members and established performing arts professionals, including leaders from renowned performing arts organisations, venues and other cultural institutions. ISPA will further the awardees’ professional development by pairing each awardee with a member to enrich his/her network and participation. Awardees will also have the opportunity to attend the Seminar Day tailor-made for the international fellows.

The total value of each Fellowship is up to US$19,815 of which US$11,875 will be provided to cover the awardee’s economy class return flight tickets from Hong Kong to New York /designated congress city, accommodation, local transportation and subsistence allowance during the congress period. Interested practitioners should, however, understand that adjustment or even cancellation may have to be made under the influence of COVID-19 and/or other unforeseeable circumstances beyond the control of HKADC and/or ISPA.

The said Fellowship Programme is part of the Arts Administrators’ Training Programmes supported by the Home Affairs Bureau. The Programmes aim at offering overseas professional training for experienced arts administrators in order to nurture future arts and cultural professionals in Hong Kong and to meet the growing needs of arts talents.

Interested practitioners are advised to obtain and download the application guidelines from ISPA website (http://bit.ly/ispafellowship). Applications must be submitted via the ISPA Online Application System (https://bit.ly/hongkongfellowship22-24) by 5:00pm on 26 July 2021 (Monday), EST (New York Time). Paper or late submission or submission by post, fax, email or other format will not be processed.
