The 11th Arts Ambassadors-in-School Finale Party Sharing the Joy of Arts with Companion

The 11th Arts Ambassadors-in-School Finale Party, comprising two main sessions – carnival and recognition cum oath-taking ceremony, was held yesterday (9 July) at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium. More than 1,200 arts ambassadors from over 650 primary, secondary and special schools participated in various arts activities to broaden their artistic experience and to share the joy of arts with their peers and families.

Since 2008, Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) has launched the Arts Ambassadors-in-School Scheme (AAiSS) to appoint students with artistic excellence, enthusiasm and potential to be the arts ambassadors of their schools and to promote arts in their campuses. This year, the newly introduced “1+1” programme encourages arts ambassadors to bring their peers to take part and to serve the community with their enthusiasm in arts. In its 11th edition, AAiSS has amassed an alumni of more than 10,000 arts ambassadors.

The “Recognition cum Oath-taking Ceremony” was officiated by Mr Jack Chan, Under Secretary for Home Affairs and Dr Wong Ying-wai, Wilfred, Chairman of the HKADC. Led by Mr Jack Chan, more than 1,200 arts ambassadors pledged their commitment to participate in the arts and to share the joy of arts with others. Under the teaching and guidance of artists, arts ambassadors staged a series of fabulous arts performances including percussion, hip hop dance, xiqu and a cappella at the ceremony.

Also presiding at the ceremony, Dr Wilfred Wong, Chairman of the HKADC, said, “With the funding support of Home Affairs Bureau, a brand new project – Arts-in-School Partnership Scheme was launched last year to foster collaborations between local schools and small-to-medium sized arts groups which aims to bringing arts into campus, allowing students to learn and take part in a range of quality arts activities. It is hoped that the two programmes – AAiSS and AiS Partnership Scheme can complement and create synergy to nurture the next generation.

The theme of the finale party is “Travelling Through Time and Space”. Organised by And Partners and led by artists, an array of arts activities including arts workshops, interactive booths, exhibitions, VR experience… etc. were held to broaden the horizons of the arts ambassadors and their peers.

The 11th AAiSS organised a wide range of arts activities to encourage arts ambassadors to explore the unlimited possibilities of artistic creation. The core activity “Creative +  Arts Camp”, held during Easter holidays, inspired the imagination of arts ambassadors and allowed them to enrich their arts experience through participation in different kinds of workshops. Other activities include arts enhancement courses, Arts Buddies 2019, Summer Rendezvous and mainland arts and cultural tour.
