Professional Attachment at Dance Base, Edinburgh Open for Application

Succeeding the initiative to jointly organise a professional attachment programme with Summerhall in 2017, one of the major venues of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) collaborates with Dance Base, another major festival venue, for the first time to launch the “Professional Attachment at Dance Base, Edinburgh”. The Programme provides attachment opportunities to promising local arts practitioners, especially independent performing arts producers, with leadership potential to further develop their professional skills and network. It is now open for application.

“Professional Attachment at Dance Base, Edinburgh” will offer up to two attachment places for ten weeks on a full-time basis from June to September 2018 at Dance Base. The actual placement period will be finalised between the selected candidates and Dance Base. The selected candidates will actively participate in the areas of programme management and production, performance coordination and promotion, artist liaison and venue operation under the supervision of senior members at Dance Base before and during the 2018 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. With the help of Dance Base, the selected candidates will also have the chance to visit other cultural institutes to enrich their attachment experience. A bursary of HK$148,000 will be provided to each successful candidate to cover accommodation, transportation, subsistence during the placement period and one economy class return flight ticket.

The said Attachment is part of the Arts Administrators’ Training Programmes supported by the Home Affairs Bureau. The Programmes aim at supporting local arts practitioners with different degree of experience to receive professional training in order to nurture future arts and cultural professionals in Hong Kong and to meet the growing needs of arts talents.

Interested practitioners are advised to refer to the specific guidelines and form of application. Both documents can now be obtained from the HKADC Administration Office (10/F, 1063 King’s Road, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong) or downloaded from the HKADC website: www.hkadc.org.hk. Applications must be submitted and deposited in the collection box at the HKADC Administration Office by 6:00pm on 8 February 2018 (Thursday) the latest. Applications submitted by post must be postmarked on or before the deadline. Late submission or submission by fax or email will not be processed. For enquiries, please contact Ms Lui of the HKADC at 2820 1090 or [email protected].
