Professional Attachment at Classical:NEXT 2020 Open for Application

The Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) collaborates with Classical:NEXT, the global gathering for all art music professionals, for the first time to launch the “Professional Attachment at Classical:NEXT 2020” (the Attachment Programme). The Attachment Programme provides an opportunity to local performing arts administration talents to further develop their professional skills, expertise and network and is now open for application. It is particularly looking for arts administrators, and practitioners with experiences in music event production, in the music sector.

The Attachment Programme will offer one attachment place for about 12 weeks on a full-time basis from March to May 2020 at Classical:NEXT. The selected candidate will mainly participate in the preparation, coordination and implementation of Classical:NEXT, including its promotion & marketing strategy, programme planning, and Classical:NEXT events. Applicant must have at least 3 years of paid work experience in the performing arts, especially in music sector.

During the attachment period, the selected candidate will mainly station at the office of Classical:NEXT in Berlin, Germany while he/she is required to coordinate the related events in Rotterdam, the Netherlands during Classical:NEXT 2020. With the help of Classical:NEXT, the selected candidate will also have the chance to visit other cultural institutes in Germany in order to enrich his/her attachment experience. A bursary of HK$81,000 will be provided for the successful candidate to cover accommodation in Germany, local transportation and subsistence in Germany and the Netherlands during the placement period and one economy class return flight ticket (Hong Kong to-and-from Germany).

The Attachment Programme is part of the Arts Administrators’ Training Programmes supported by the Home Affairs Bureau. It aims at supporting local arts practitioners with different degree of experience to receive professional training in order to nurture future arts and cultural professionals in Hong Kong and to meet the growing needs of arts talents.

Interested practitioners are advised to refer to the application guidelines and form. Both documents can now be obtained from the HKADC Administration Office (10/F, 1063 King’s Road, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong) or downloaded from the HKADC website: www.hkadc.org.hk. Applications must be submitted and deposited in the collection box at the HKADC Administration Office by 6:00pm on 8 November 2019 (Friday) the latest. Applications submitted by post must be postmarked on or before the deadline. Late submission or submission by fax or email will not be processed. About Classical:NEXT
Classical:NEXT is currently one of the most popular international music meetings in the sector. It consists of showcases, conference, project pitches and expo that covers both classical and contemporary music. It was born out of the idea to provide a platform for music practitioners from all around the world to exchange, observe, discuss and explore new development. Having its first edition in 2012, it has been held since 2015 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and developed into an event attended by 1,300 music professionals from 48 countries representing over 1,000 companies.
