OzAsia Festival Internship 2016 – Open for Application

Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) collaborates with Adelaide Festival Centre (AFC), of Australia for the first time in launching ‘OzAsia Festival Internship 2016’. The Programme provides an internship opportunity to local potential arts practitioners to further develop their professional skills and network. It is now open for applications.

‘OzAsia Festival Internship 2016’ will offer one internship place for 12 weeks on a full-time basis from August to November 2016 at the AFC. The actual placement period will be finalised between the selected candidate and the AFC. The selected candidate will mainly participate in festival coordination, programming, media marketing and promotion of the OzAsia Festival 2016. With the help of the AFC, the selected candidate will also have the chance to visit other cultural institutes in order to enrich his/her internship experience. A bursary of AUD17,700 will be provided to the successful candidate to cover accommodation, transportation, subsistence during the placement period and one economy class return flight ticket.

Hosted by HKADC, Mr Joseph Mitchell, Festival Director of OzAsia Festival, will give a seminar introducing the AFC, the OzAsia Festival and sharing the experience at the AFC. It will be held from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on 22 January 2016 (Friday) at the HKADC Administration Office. The seminar will be conducted in English. Interested practitioners are welcome to register attendance.

The said programme is part of the Arts Administrators’ Training Projects which are supported by the Home Affairs Bureau. The Projects aim at supporting local arts practitioners with different degree of experience to receive professional training in order to nurture future arts and cultural professionals in Hong Kong and to meet the growing needs of arts talents.

Interested practitioners are advised to refer to the specific guidelines and form of application. Both documents can now be obtained from the HKADC Administration Office (14/F, East Warwick House, Taikoo Place, 979 King’s Road, Hong Kong) or downloaded from the HKADC website: www.hkadc.org.hk. Applications must be submitted and deposited in the collection box at the HKADC Administration Office by 6:30pm on 9 March 2016 (Wednesday) the latest. Applications submitted by post must be postmarked on or before the deadline. Late submission or submission by fax or email will not be processed. About OzAsia Festival
Since 2007, Adelaide Festival Centre has held the two-week OzAsia Festival every September, which features various programmes from Asian countries, including India, Korea, China, Japan and Malaysia etc.. The Festival attracts Australian and Asian performers and tourists to gather at Adelaide. The 2016 OzAsia Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2016 and it will be held from 17 September to 2 October. HKADC will support Hong Kong arts programmes to participate the Festival this year.

The activities of the Festival are in a wide spectrum. For example, in 2015, it featured 41 events, including 5 world premieres and 12 Australian premieres. There were 180 scheduled activities including more than 90 performances, 8 exhibitions, 15 film screenings, 10 speaking events and a variety of workshops and other activities. More than 270 professional artists performed in the Festival. There were also more than 40 OzAsia Festival free performances at Elder Park outside AFC.
