Hong Kong Scholarship for National Arts Strategies – Executive Program in Arts & Culture Strategy 2019 Open for Application

Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) collaborates with the National Arts Strategies (NAS) for the first time to launch the “Hong Kong Scholarship for National Arts Strategies – Executive Program in Arts & Culture Strategy 2019”. The scholarship supports local arts administrators, especially those who have professional experience and aspire to advance their careers, to study the Executive Program in Arts & Culture Strategy (EPACS) designed by the NAS and the University of Pennsylvania. The scholarship is provided to further enhance their professional knowledge and strengthen their international networks. It is now open for application.

The scholarship will offer one training opportunity for the awardee to pursue the EPACS in 2019. The EPACS is an Ivy League credential that is designed to give participants comprehensive training in arts management, covering strategy & positioning, non-profit fundraising, leading teams and management, introduction to social media, community and collaboration, finance and many more topics. Commencing from December 2018 to September 2019, the EPACS consists of 6 online courses taking 4-6 hours per week, and two in-person conferences held at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, in March and September 2019 respectively. Each on-campus conference will last around 3-4 days and will be conducted by the faculty of University of Pennsylvania and experienced executives of arts and professional organisations across the USA. The awardee should attend the conferences to network with arts professionals around the world and bring their learning to the next level.

The total value of the scholarship is HK$93,400 which covers the tuition fee (US$5,950) of the EPACS, and the subsistence allowance for attending the two conferences at approximately HK$47,000 in total for flight tickets, accommodation, transportation and meals.

The said Scholarship is part of the Arts Administrators’ Training Programme supported by the Home Affairs Bureau. The Programme aims at offering overseas professional training programmes for local arts administrators in order to nurture future arts and cultural professionals in Hong Kong and to meet the growing needs of arts talents.
