Hong Kong Arts Development Council
Welcomes the 2024 Policy Address

The Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) welcomes and supports the Government initiatives to enhance cultural soft power and promote the development of cultural and creative industries as stated in the Chief Executive’s 2024 Policy Address announced today (16 October).

Mr Kenneth Fok, Chairman of HKADC, said: “To promote the development of Hong Kong’s culture sectors as industries, with strong support from the HKSAR Government, the inaugural Hong Kong Performing Arts Expo (HKPAX) organised by HKADC was successfully launched on 14 October. The five-day mega event welcomed over 1,400 arts practitioners from more than 60 countries and regions with strong participation of practitioners from the Middle East, Canada, and Australia. As a flagship platform for performing arts, the HKPAX facilitates arts and cultural exchange among Hong Kong, the Mainland and the rest of the world, expanding trading opportunities of performing arts programmes, which is in line with the Government’s direction to promote the development of Hong Kong's arts, culture and creative industries.”

HKADC has been committed to taking forward the initiatives set out in the previous editions of “Policy Address”, including the “Internship Scheme for Arts Administrator” and “Internship Scheme for Artistic and Production Personnel”. Through offering internship opportunities for various art forms and different positions in the sector, the two schemes facilitate the growth and development of local arts talents. Since their launch last year, the two schemes have successfully matched 32 arts administrator and 53 artistic and production personnel internship places, benefitting 56 organisations. The second edition of the programme was launched in July this year to meet the needs of future development.

In future, HKADC will endeavour to take forward initiatives to complement the Government's strategies of promoting arts and culture development. HKADC will continue its efforts in grooming local arts practitioners and arts groups, facilitating cultural exchanges and ties between local and international counterparts so as to promote the development of arts, culture and creative industries.
