Candidate Forum for HKADC Nomination Exercise will take place this Saturday

The 2019 Nomination of Representatives of Arts Interests for the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) (the Nomination Exercise) now enters into the electioneering stage.  To enable voters to learn more about the candidates of the 7 contested arts interests, the Nomination Agent (Note) will hold a forum for candidates to present their election platforms and to answer questions from voters.  Press and interested parties are welcome to attend.

The candidate forum shall take place this Saturday (5 October) from 1:00 pm to 5:20 pm at the Mong Kok Community Hall, L2, Mong Kok Complex, 557 Shanghai Street, Mong Kok.  In this year’s Nomination Exercise, candidates in the arts interests of Arts Administration, Arts Criticism and Dance are returned uncontested; the remaining 7 contested arts interests are namely Arts Education, Drama, Film Arts, Literary Arts, Music, Visual Arts and Chinese Opera (Xiqu).  Candidate forum sessions will be held as follow:

*Ho Yat Ming (Ricky) and Cheung Cheuk Yin (Maggie) are unable to attend the Candidate Forum.

Each session of the forum will include candidate’s platform presentation and candidates answering questions from the floor.  Aside from the session for Chinese Opera (Xiqu), sessions will also include debate among the candidates of the same arts interests.

Polling for this year’s Nomination Exercise is scheduled for 20 and 21 October at the Mong Kok Community Hall.  Cross-arts interest voting will continue to be adopted this year.  All voters registered under the 10 arts interests have the right to cast votes for candidates standing for nomination in the 7 contested arts interests.  A list of the nominated representatives will be submitted to the Chief Executive for consideration of appointment to the HKADC for the next term beginning 1 January 2020.
