Hong Kong Annual Arts Survey Report 2021/22

The Hong Kong Annual Arts Survey 2021/22 collected data on the performing arts programmes that were staged in 78 venues under 29 major performing facilities, visual arts exhibitions that were held in 385 venues, and film festivals and featured / individual screening of film arts events in 115 different venues between April 2021 and March 2022. It aims to provide comprehensive statistics and analyses such as programme types, venue types distribution, box office records, attendance and presenters to the arts sector. Data collection coverage has further expanded to literary arts field from 2018/19, including analyses of the literary and reading promotion activities from 164 presenters on activity types, and the distribution of presenters, book genres, languages and authors etc.

In 2021/22, arts and cultural facilities, performing facilities, cinemas and other venues were closed from time to time in compliance with the government's anti-pandemic measures. Arts and cultural programmes could not be staged and some of them went online during the closure of venues. Therefore, data on online arts and cultural programmes continue to be included in this year's Survey for reference.
