To examine the demographics of audience and their participation in arts and cultural activities*, Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC), with the support of the Home Affairs Bureau, commissioned a research company to conduct the “Arts Participation and Consumption Survey”. To facilitate questionnaire design, four focus groups were held in April 2015 to understand the reasons of attending/participating in different arts and cultural activities over the previous year. Street interviews were then conducted between August and October 2015 in the 18 districts of Hong Kong. A random sample of 3,016 citizens aged 15-74 were successfully interviewed.
Executive Summary written by the appointed research company devised some directions for audience development based on their analysis.
