Organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards is an annual flagship event in the local arts scene. It aims to give formal recognition to distinguished arts practitioners, up-and-coming artists with outstanding achievements, individual, groups and organisations that have actively supported and participated in arts event, education and promotion and made significant contributions to the arts development in Hong Kong.
From this year onwards, the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards 2019 is renamed as “The 14th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards”.
The 14th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards presentation ceremony is cancelled because of the COVID-19 situation. The “Life Achievement Award” and “Award for Outstanding Contribution in Arts” will be announced and presented in the next edition.

The 14th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards is organised into seven categories.
For the following two awards, nominations and final selection are made by HKADC’s Council members and arts advisors:
Life Achievement Award*
The highest accolade in the Awards recognises the ongoing contributions of Hong Kong veteran arts practitioners whose achievements are widely acknowledged by the arts community.
Award for Outstanding Contribution in Arts*
Pays tribute to arts practitioners who have made outstanding contributions to various art forms during the past few decades.
The following five awards are open for nominations:
Artist of the Year
Recognises arts practitioners who have achieved excellence in their respective art forms; each awardee will receive a cash award of HK$50,000 for supporting his/her creative work, arts projects or further studies.
Award for Young Artist
Gives recognition, support and encouragement to young and emerging arts practitioners; each awardee will receive a cash award of HK$25,000 for supporting his/her creative work, arts projects or further studies.
Award for Arts Education
Recognises schools, organisations and arts practitioners who have outstanding accomplishments in arts education. It is organised into two divisions: School and Non-School.
Award for Arts Promotion
Recognises the outstanding achievements of groups, organisations and individuals in arts promotion.
Award for Arts Sponsorship
Recognises organisations and individuals that have actively sponsored arts events and promoted arts development in Hong Kong.
*The Life Achievement Award (previously known as the Honorary Award) and the Award for Outstanding Contribution in Arts are not presented posthumously. Previous recipients of these two awards will not be nominated for the same award again.
