POON Wai Sum

Mr POON started script writing in 1985 with The Forest in the Shadow of the Banyan Tree, which was staged in 1986 by the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre. He had joined the Shatin Theatre Company between 1989 and 1992, during which he wrote numerous plays. In 1993 he was made the Artistic Director of Prospects Theatre Company. He has also been commissioned by various local and overseas theatre companies, including The Theatre Practice of Singapore, to write stage scripts. His recent works won the Best Play in the Hong Kong Annual Drama Awards between 1997 and 2001. He was also the Hong Kong Arts Development Council's Dramatist of the Year in 2000.
