Local Arts Administrator Awarded the Scholarship on the Clore Leadership Programme

To foster professional growth of local arts administrators and facilitate long-term development of arts and culture in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) collaborates with different world acclaimed arts and cultural organisations to offer internship and training programmes. The programmes provide overseas internship and exchange opportunities for promising local arts administrators to develop their professional skills and international network.

Recently, HKADC has collaborated with the Clore Leadership Programme of the United Kingdom to launch “Hong Kong Scholarship on the Clore Leadership Programme 2017/18” to support one local arts administrator for training and secondment in the UK.

The awardee of this cohort is Ms Michelle Rocha. She is going to take part in two customised intensive leadership training workshop series this September and in June 2018. She will also undertake a secondment for a period of about eight weeks in cultural institution(s) during her stay, where she will have the opportunities to meet a wide range of cultural leaders and participate in a series of training in the UK.

Ms Michelle Rocha is the Assistant Producer (Music & Outdoor), Performing Arts of West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA), responsible for the production of the WKCDA’s flagship music and outdoor programme, Freespace Happening, and other artistic development projects. Ms Rocha has worked for different arts organisations after graduation from the University of Hong Kong, including her work as the Company and Programme Officer for Hong Kong Dance Company, responsible for operational support and artist liaison.

With the funding support from the Home Affairs Bureau, the aforementioned programme aims to strengthen the training of local arts administrators, to nurture more arts and cultural leaders and respond to the demand for such in our community.
