Hong Kong Arts Development Council
Supports Formulation of “10-year Development Blueprint for Arts and Cultural Facilities” in Chief Executive’s Policy Address

The Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) welcomes and supports the formulation of the new “10-year Development Blueprint for Arts and Cultural Facilities” announced today by the Chief Executive in his first Policy Address which sustains the enhancement of local cultural infrastructure and nurturing of arts talents.

Dr Wong Ying-wai, Wilfred, Chairman of HKADC, said “Leveraging on Hong Kong's unique and vibrant cultural diversity, competence in organising large scale cultural events and its strong network with overseas arts and cultural organisations, major international arts and cultural events have already planted their roots in Hong Kong. In light of the thriving arts scene in Hong Kong, the arts sector's demand for facilities and professionals has never been greater. To further promote the development of arts in Hong Kong and raise the city's status as a cultural hub, building more arts and cultural facilities and cultivating talents are of vital importance. I very much support the Government's ‘10-year Development Blueprint for Arts and Cultural Facilities’, and HKADC will make every effort to meet the needs of future development by launching a variety of internship schemes dedicated to training talents in different arts disciplines, helping to fulfil Hong Kong's vision as a cultural hub.”

HKADC has been committed to nurturing local arts talents. By providing diversified grant schemes, commissioned productions, scholarships, local and overseas internship and attachment opportunities, HKADC enables and facilitates arts talents and arts groups to enhance their professional standards and pursue excellence. In the near future, HKADC will launch a new round of “Internship Scheme for Young Arts Talents” to meet the growing needs for professionals in different arts disciplines including arts administration, arts technology and performing arts.

Looking ahead, HKADC will fully uphold the Government's strategy of arts and cultural development, continue its works to nurture local arts practitioners and arts groups, support measures under the National 14th Five-Year Plan to develop Hong Kong into an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange.
