On 11 December 2023, the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) again with the Adelaide Festival Centre (AFC) in Hong Kong. The MoU was signed by Ms Winsome Chow, Chief Executive of HKADC and Mr Douglas Gautier, Chief Executive Officer and Artistic Director of AFC. The signing was witnessed by Mr Gareth Williams, the Australian Consul-General to Hong Kong and Macau and Mr Kenneth Fok Kai-kong, Chairman of HKADC.

The signing of MoU aims to establish a long-term cooperation framework and strengthen exchanges between both parties. Since the MoU was first signed in 2016, both organisations have been committed to promoting arts and cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and Australia as well as providing support to help outstanding Hong Kong artists to develop their international network through participating in the OzAsia Festival, a major arts event hosted by AFC, and its “Professional Attachment at OzAsia Festival” programme. These allow Hong Kong artists and arts groups to showcase their artistic excellence to overseas audiences and counterparts and at the same time, accumulate experiences and explore further opportunities for collaborations.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr Kenneth Fok Kai-kong said the partnership between HKADC and AFC would provide a platform for talented Hong Kong artists to showcase their works to audiences in Australia, which would contribute to developing Hong Kong into an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange.

Mr Gareth Williams also welcomed the signing of the MoU between the organisations and believed the collaboration would help promote the cultural exchange between Australia and Hong Kong.

Mr Douglas Gautier affirmed the steadfast partnership between the two organisations as well as the future opportunities to present Hong Kong’s arts through AFC.

In the coming two years, HKADC and AFC will continue to promote arts and cultural exchanges in accordance with the signed MoU.
