2014/15 Arts Administration Internship Scheme Open for Applications

The Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) launches the 2014/15 Arts Administration Internship Scheme again this year. It is now open for applications.

With the funding support from the Home Affairs Bureau, the HKADC launched the 2013/14 Arts Administration Internship Scheme last year, providing fresh graduates the opportunities to work and train in professional arts organisations and organising events. The experience and understanding of actual operation gained in working arts organisations is conducive to their knowledge to the arts industry and helps identify talents with potential in arts administration and curatorship for arts organisations, thereby contributing to the promotion and development of the arts in Hong Kong.

30 arts organisations were supported in the 2013/14 Arts Administration Internship Scheme, providing a one-year comprehensive training and internship to their interns in administration, promotion, financial management, marketing and/or curatorship, etc. The granted organisations reflected that, they gained extra administration support through the Scheme while interns gained actual working experiences in event and organisation management, promotion and fund-raising. For interns, they agreed the Scheme provided them a good opportunity to know more about Hong Kong arts industry and its actual operation.

This year, the Scheme’s “Invitation for Proposals” and application forms can be obtained from the HKADC Administration Office (14/F, East Warwick House, Taikoo Place, 979 King’s Road, Hong Kong) or downloaded from HKADC’s website (www.hkadc.org.hk). Applicants should be local registered organisations with vision to promote arts. Open recruitment is required for granted organisations to recruit qualified interns. Each subsidised full-time intern can receive a maximum monthly grant of HK$13,000, employment insurance and MPF. Organisations can also propose monthly salary of the intern based on its actual operation and needs. The final grant depends on the resources and requirements of the Scheme.

To enhance the Scheme’s effectiveness and attract more talents to arts administration, the scope of grant not only covers recruitment of new interns, but also expanded to cover contract renewal of current interns this year. Granted organisations of the 2013/14 Arts Administration Internship Scheme can seek contract renewal for one year with current interns with excellent performance. To encourage interns to complete the renewed contract of 12 months, the HKADC will release a HK$6,000 gratuity to interns successfully completing the said contract.

Applications must be deposited in the collection box at the HKADC office on or before 6:30 pm on 27 March 2015 (Friday), with “2014/15 Arts Administration Internship Scheme” marked on the envelopes. Applications submitted by post must be postmarked on or before the deadline. Late submission or submission by fax, e-mail or other digital form shall not be accepted or processed.
