What an exhilarating experience you can have by boarding the Mobile Art Gallery! An array of local visual arts creations is now showcased on 21 First Buses till 3 November. They are 8P, 18, 106, 112, 601 and 680.
Jointly organised by Hong Kong Arts Development Council, New World First Bus Services Limited and Art Promotion Office of Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Mobile Art Gallery aims at bringing artworks closer to the everyday life of the public and facilitating the public to appreciate the works of local artists on their daily bus ride and, at the same time, promoting a sense of environmental protection.
With more than 50 entries, 61 pieces of artworks by 12 local artists were selected from an open competition. They are Choy Man-kin, Ko Sum-yuen, Lee Kwok-chuen, Leung Chung-yiu, Liu Sze-keung, Eddie Lui, Ng Suk-ching, Shen Ping, To Kwan-hung, Tsang Kin-wah, Tse Tak-lung and Yung On-li.
To mark the occasion, a kick-off ceremony was held on 4 May at the piazza of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre with Dr Patrick Ho, Chairman of the ADC; Ms Choi Suk-kuen, Deputy Director (Culture) of Leisure and Cultural Services and Mr Philip Harper, Director of Operation of New World First Bus Services Limited as the officiating guests. Also attending the ceremony were ADC's Vice Chairman Mr Darwin Chen and Council Members Mr Ng Kau and Mr Pak Fook-chun.
