Hong Kong Arts Development Council will join Leisure & Cultural Services Department for the first time in organizing the 25th Hong Kong International Film Festival. The film festival will commence on April 6 and end on 21. A total of 222 films from Hong Kong and around the world will be showed in theatres across Hong Kong.

The opening films for this year are Peony Pavilion, directed by famous local director Yon Fan, and Mortal Transfer, directed by French Jean-Jacques Beineix. The closing film is A One and a Two (Yi Yi), the work of Taiwanese director Edward Yang.
