As part of the co-operative efforts between ADC and Trade Development Council, 'Critics' Recommendation' is one of the many cultural promotional activities launched alongside this year's Book Fair.

The aim of the 'Critics' Recommendation' is to arouse the public's interest in reading through recommendation by renowned book commentators of new books.

Since April, the organiser of the Book Fair has invited participating publishers to supply and recommend new books published in Hong Kong between January 2000 and July 2001.

A total 326 books recommended by the 42 participating publishers were received after the deadline. The Literary Arts Committee of ADC has formed a task force to select 30 books out of this for review by 19 renowned critics. The selection criteria is primarily based on the quality and reading value of the books. Apart from publishing in newspapers and journals, booklets are also printed and available free of charge to the public at the Book Fair.
