Hong Kong has a vast amount of public sculptures. These sculptures are scattered and lack of records. "Guide to Urban Sculpture in Hong Kong" is a publication aiming to build up a database of information on public sculptures in Hong Kong. The preparation work started in 2002 and took over 250 field trips and more than 2000 hours of data research, sorting and analysis to complete. "Guide to Urban Sculpture in Hong Kong" consists of two volumes, "Hong Kong Island" and "Kowloon & New Territories". The two volumes record over 320 pieces of sculptures, including historical statues, established work by renowned international sculptors, achievements by local sculptors, commemorative works left by public art events and nostalgic community sculptures that are lesser known to people. These guide books contain comprehensive records and reference materials on public sculptures in Hong Kong. They form an important step in building up a complete database of information related to public art in Hong Kong.
