To strengthen the professionalism of local arts administrators and encourage them to continuously improve their practice, the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (ADC) organises the Arts Administration Scholarships to support the promising candidates to pursue postgraduate studies or professional programmes in arts administration in local universities/tertiary institutions.

The latest ArTour talks to Wang Kit-ching, the recipient of Award for Young Artist (Xiqu) of Hong Kong Arts Development Awards 2011. “What’s Art?” features Pants Theatre Production’s Tian Han in the Storm and Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble’s “Ode to Plum Blossoms – The Artistry of Qian Zhaoxi”.

The latest ArTour talks to Fresh Wave 2012 Awardee Li Yushan. “What’s Art?” features 1001 Nights of Pasolini, a re-run by Alice Theatre Laboratory and “The Library”, an online platform launched by soundpocket.

Organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC), the Fresh Wave 2012 Local Competition aims at encouraging young talents to pursue film production and nurturing a new generation of filmmakers. The competition identifies aspiring young filmmakers with potential and provides a platform for them to create and showcase their works.

The Hong Kong Arts Development Council (ADC) is partnering with the UK Clore Leadership Programme (CLP) to launch the “Hong Kong Scholarship on the Clore Leadership Programme”. The scholarship is funded by the Home Affairs Bureau with the aim to nurture creative talents in Hong Kong. The ADC is inviting application from local arts practitioners for the 2012/13 Scholarship.

Jointly presented by the ADC and Television Division of Radio Television Hong Kong, a new TV series on arts and culture – “Artspiration” will be broadcast on 24 April (Tuesday). The Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) cordially invites applications for the “Arts Administration Scholarships”, which is launched this year with an aim to strengthen the professionalism of local arts administrators and encourage them to continuously improve their practice by pursuing Master’s degrees or professional programmes in arts administration from local universities/tertiary institutions.

Joined hands with the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA), the Hong Kong Arts Development Council launches the “Overseas Training / Research Programme for Leaders from Local Arts Groups on Future Arts Development in Hong Kong”, aiming to nurture the artistic and administrative leaders of the local arts groups to become research fellows in the next three years. Other than expanding the vision and enhancing the skills and knowledge of the leaders, the programme can also contribute to the future arts development in Hong Kong. Eligible artistic administrative leaders of local arts groups are welcome to submit detailed applications.

On 8 March, Candace Chong and Olivia Yan, the playwright and director of the drama The Wild Boar, disclosed their stories behind the scene and shared with the arts ambassadors their theatre experiences.

The ADC has launched the Internship Scheme since 2008 to provide internship opportunities for young arts administrators and to strengthen the training of local arts administrators. On 28 March 2012, ten interns of the programme gathered together for a meeting with experienced arts administration professionals.

On 24 February, 20 Arts Ambassadors visited the Osage Gallery in Central where the exhibition Wilson Shieh Lives in Soho presented by visual artist Wilson Shieh was held. During the visit, Shieh shared with the ambassadors his daily work as a full-time artist.

“Fresh Wave - International Short Film Festival”, organized by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, is now collaborating with the Broadway Cinematheque to screen four award-winning films from the “Fresh Wave 2011 - Local Competition Section”. Titled “Demonstrating Hong Kong: Selected Winning Films from Fresh Wave 2011”, the programme will include Not Now But When (Fresh Wave Award and Best Film, Open Division), July 1st, An Unhappy Birthday (Best Creativity, Open Division), 6th March (Best Script, Open Division) and Gwangong Vs Alien (Best Creativity, Student Division).

The 4th Arts Ambassadors-in-School Scheme(4th AAiSS) organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council is an innovation arts project for all primary, secondary and special schools in Hong Kong. The scheme aims to recognize students with artistic excellence and to encourage them to take part in promote arts events and activities.

With the funding support from the Home Affairs Bureau (HAB), the ADC partners with the Mori Art Museum to provide internship opportunities for promising local curators/arts managers to develop their professional skills and network.

To promote local short films to a wider audience, the HKADC is now collaborating with NOW Television to broadcast 6 award-winning films selected from the Fresh Wave 2010 - Local Competition Section. 6 titles will be broadcast on NOW TV’s Video Express service on Channel 106 from 1 September:

Starting from August, Close To Culture will feature on the latest trend of new media arts. The first episode on 6 August highlighted the “Invention and Intervention – Power Showcase of Hong Kong New Media Artists” exhibition and introduced the innovative artworks exhibited this summer. In the next two episodes, two of the participating artists -- Keith Lam & Teddy Lo will share their experiences in artistic creation with us. The last episode will bring us to the closing show of the exhibition “Sense LIVE!” – a sensational and cross-disciplinary performance by new media artists and professional dancers.

The HKADC is now collaborating with Mei Ah Television to broadcast 19 films selected from the Fresh Wave 2010 - Local Competition Section. Programmed into four episodes, the short films will be broadcasted on NOW TV Channel 137 on four Sunday nights at 24:00 from 7 to 28 August, 2011. The filmmakers will also share their concepts behind the creations. Stay tuned with Fresh Wave Local Competition Film Showcase to appreciate the artistic creations of local young filmmakers!

TV episodes featuring the 54th Venice Biennale are now presented by Close to Culture of Cable TV and The Works of RTHK respectively. The episodes are available for watching online now.

Hong Kong takes part in the 54th Venice Biennale (Visual Arts) again. This year, the Hong Kong Pavilion will showcase the exhibition “Frogtopia．Hongkornucopia”. Featuring the works of local arts veteran Kwok Man-ho, a.k.a. Frog King, the exhibition is under the curatorship of Benny Chia, Tsang Tak-ping and Wong Shun-kit in association with Hong Kong Fringe Club. To appreciate the highlights of the Biennale and the Hong Kong Pavilion, stay tuned with The Works of RTHK and Close to Culture of Cable TV!

The ADC will join hands with the Cable TV to present a new episode ArTour in the Cable TV’s programme Close to Culture. ArTour will interview local young artists and introduce arts and cultural programmes to the audience. The first episode will be broadcast at 11:30pm on 4 June, at i-Cable Finance Info Channel.
