Fresh Wave Films Featured in Paris

The Fresh Wave International Short Film is actively promoting works by local young filmmakers to overseas, and is collaborating with Festival Paris Cinema which is taking place from 29 June to 10 July. The Festival Paris Cinema is featuring two programmes comprising five films selected from recent editions of the Fresh Wave, forming part of the Festival’s “Hong Kong in Focus”.

The five Fresh Wave films selected for Paris include Gwanggong VS Alien (Best Creativity 2011, dir. Leung Chung-man), 6th March (Best Script 2011, dir. Wong Chun), 1+1 (Best Film & Fresh Wave Award 2010, dir. Lai Yan-chi), The Decisive Moment (Best Cinematography 2010, dir. Wong Wai-kit) and Basket (Best Creativity & Fresh Wave Award 2009, dir. Wong Hin-yeung).

Fresh Wave directors Wong Chun, Leung Chung-man, Lai Yan-chi and Wong Wai-kit have attended the Festival and met with the French audience after the screenings on 30 June. Besides, they also joined the master classes and exchange sessions with filmmakers around the world.

This is the second time when Fresh Wave collaborates with a film festival overseas, after working with Udine Far East Film Festival to feature a special Fresh Wave programme in Italy. The Fresh Wave International Film Festival shall continue its mission to develop local young talents in film arts, and will promote their films not only in Hong Kong but also to other parts of the world.
