Founded in 1984, CINARS is held bi-annually in November as an international renowned performing arts expo well-attended by performing arts groups and agencies from across the world. CINARS has a special focus on four arts forms including dance, music, theatre and multidisciplinary arts and circus respectively. In a week-long period, CINARS attracts over 1800 attendants from 50 countries and cities, staging over 170 productions from Canada and other regions. On the other hand, OFF-CINARS is a platform that allows artists / arts organisations from different places to self-organise and showcase their work for presenters and producers from all over the world to enjoy.
HKADC has participated in CINARS for the first time in 2018. It served as a pilot scheme aiming to explore the effectiveness and benefits of this platform for the promotion of Hong Kong performing artworks, and the result was satisfactory. This year, HKADC continues its support and extended it to OFF-CINARS performances in the hope that the participating artists / arts organisations can gain overseas performing experience and expand their international networks.
