One of the biggest challenges in audience building is to identify potential arts participants.
Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) has conducted the Hong Kong Annual Arts Survey for nine consecutive years. Changes in the number of arts productions, free and paid audiences, box office income in the consecutive years are gradual and these findings tell the arts ecology in Hong Kong.
Audience is commonly recognized as one of the significant stake holders in arts market. HKADC’s first Arts Participation and Consumption Survey was commissioned in 2015 to understand the profile, attitude and consumption behavior of arts participants and potential arts participants in Hong Kong. The research consultant has also examined potential arts participants and give recommendations on how to attract them.
Market research, database and data analysis usually play a key role in successful audience development schemes. What indications can be found from these studies? In this forum, major findings of the two research reports will be presented. A panel of marketing personnel, senior administrators and scholars will discuss the best practices in formulating audience building strategies in local and overseas cities, and share their insights on how to use market research, database and data analysis.
